How to play Match Three

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Match Three. Score 900 points in twenty-five moves. Use the example below to understand a decision. Check the rule that explains your first action. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

8×8 board, move budget, cascades and no-legal-move handling.

A careful first round

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Score 900 points in twenty-five moves. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Review the board or playing area as it changes.

Step by step

  1. Swap adjacent pieces to make a line of three or more.
  2. Matched pieces disappear.
  3. Falling pieces can trigger cascades.
  4. Reach the target before running out of moves.

Controls

Tap adjacent cells. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

A useful example

A horizontal swap can complete a vertical line. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Consider the next action carefully.

Watch out for this

A swap making no match is reverted. A different version of the game may use a different rule. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
