How to play Klondike Solitaire
Choose a round of Klondike Solitaire and settle into its rules. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Look at what changes after your first action. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.
One deck; draw-one or draw-three stock; waste recycling. Free solo play, no wagering.
Notice the feedback
Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Make the next step deliberately.
Your goal
Build four suit foundations from ace to king. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Keep the controls in easy reach.
Step by step
- Build down in alternating colours; kings fill empty columns. Valid ordered runs move together.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
Controls
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Check any mode label before starting.
A useful example
A red 6 fits a black 7, not another red 7. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Notice the change in the playing area.
Watch out for this
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. A different version of the game may use a different rule. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
