How to play Carrom

Carrom gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

A useful comparison

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Review the board or playing area as it changes.

Step by step

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Controls

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. Use the control method described here for this activity. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

A useful example

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Look for the relevant detail.

Watch out for this

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
